The Taj Mahal Trio plays at the Springfield Museum on Friday 8/1 as part of exhibit honoring his life.

Iron Horse Entertainment and the Springfield Museums present the Taj Mahal Trio live outdoors on the Quadrangle at the Springfield Museums, Friday, August 1st at 7PM. Tickets on sale this Friday, June 13th

The concert is presented in conjunction with Blues in Our Blood: The Artistic Evolution of Taj Mahal and Carole Fredericks, an exhibition honoring the Springfield born musicians.

The lives of two famous members of an African-American family in Springfield are explored in the special exhibition Blues in Our Blood: The Artistic Evolution of Taj Mahal and Carole Fredericks, on view at the Connecticut Valley Historical Museum through November 9, 2008.

The multi-media exhibit sheds light on the era, social conditions and family influences that shaped the international music careers of Henry St. Claire Fredericks, better known as GRAMMY Award-winning blues musician Taj Mahal, and his sister, the late singer Carole Fredericks.

The exhibition features photographs, film footage, album covers, posters and other memorabilia of their careers and their family, which produced an impressive collection of musicians, artists, writers, teachers and entrepreneurs. Taj and his trio are clearly a well suited addition to the exhibition!

The Connecticut Valley Historical Museum is located at 21 Edwards Street in downtown Springfield. The museum is one of the four Springfield Museums at the Quadrangle, a complex of art, science and history museums, plus the Dr. Seuss National Memorial Sculpture Garden. Get tickets HERE.
