Los Angeles via Pennsylvania Amos Lee discovery Priscilla Ahn has a new Blue Note album and a date at the Horse on Friday, August 1st.

Priscilla Ahn will be visiting the Iron Horse on Friday, August 1st for a summer evening of sweet melodies and lovesongs. Priscilla's sophisticated style and lucid, honed vocals are stunningly precocious for someone of only 22 years and with very little classical training. After one listen it's apparent that she is simply a natural, and she makes complex harmonies and soaring high notes sound effortless. Her influences include numerous genres, primarily folk, country and pop, but with audible elements of jazz, soul and many other styles. It's no wonder that Blue Note Records recognized her talent soon after she lent her vocals to an early Amos Lee EP. Of course, she still had to pay her dues, driving cross-country from her childhood home in Pennsylvania to cut her teeth as an independent singer-songwriter at open mics and dive cafes in Los Angeles before Amos Lee directed his label to give her an audition. In that short, but important period of time, Ahn developed her craft, and now shows it off in her new songs featured on her recently released album, A Good Day, which features a host of legendary guest musicians and studio geniuses to embellish her already stellar songs. Her performance at the Iron Horse on August 1st will be an excellent opportunity to witness the power of her gorgeous vocals in a set-up that strips away much of the studio production to reveal the intimate essentials. -Gabe Chicoine
