Slaid Cleaves brings sorrowful, down-to-earth songs to the Iron Horse TONIGHT- Thursday

Slaid Cleaves is an artist not afraid of taking a step back and taking it all in, not necessarily innovating his craft but honing it, creating honest folk songs about friends, loss, and life. His subtle Americana guitar work evokes dusty trails and scenes of his current residence in Austin, Texas. After winning the Kerrville Folk Festival's New Folk Competition in 1992, Cleaves has released an EP and a number of full-lengths, his most recent being 2006's "Unsung." He's currently working on his new record, tentatively named "Gurf Morlix," and will debut some of the new songs on Thursday, June 12 at 7PM at the Iron Horse with introspective balladeer Meg Hutchinson opening.
