A Case Of You: Neko Case this Saturday, February 2nd at the Calvin Theatre (THE SHOW WAS SWEET! WATCH THIS SPACE FOR REVIEWS THIS WEEK)

Neko Case recorded her first album of country-tinged folk-pop in 1997, then moved from her college home in Vancouver to Seattle to begin serious work as a solo artist. She spent the next decade or so writing and recording her chilling, spacious songs in a number of formats — live releases, studio albums and home recordings — in the process incorporating multiple contributions from musician friends.

Upon the release of 2006's Fox Confessor Brings the Flood, Case had already established herself with vocal performances on The New Pornographers' albums, as well as stellar live performances, often in duos or with a mixed bag of collaborators. The disc turned out to be her biggest commercial hit yet, and Case was named Female Artist of the Year at the 2006 PLUG Independent Music Awards.

Don't miss this show.

I got my tickets the first day they were on sale. I've been waiting for her to get back to the valley ever since I saw her at the Green River fest.
Neko herself is wonderful, of course, but the band is great also.
Kelly Hogan's backup singing is amazing. She has been with Neko both on her CDs and her tours since 2000 and it shows. They sing magnificently together. My wife and a friend who both have done some professional singing were blown away by how well they work together-just stunning.

Also, Jon Rauhouse is a sublime player. His Banjo, Pedal Steel, Hawaiian Guitar are important parts of Neko's sound as well.

There are still some tickets left-get yours today.
