Les Savy Fav 101

There is no shortage of indie rock street cred-enhancing reasons that you should see Les Savy Fav at Pearl Street on Saturday night December 29th. You know that thing where you check out your influences' influences' influences and then pretend to have loved the Stooges all along? Similarly, start at the Rhode Island School of Design, where the band members met over a shared interest in Fugazi, Sunny Day Real Estate, Jawbox, and fellow Rhode Isalnders Nation of Ulysses. Work your way up through the Pixies. Take a right at The Rapture. Arrive at Les Savy Fav. Do not make me use words like godfathers or seminal or pioneering.
Look, impressing your Brooklyn- dwelling cousin with your high musical IQ is all well and good, but actually, the best reason to see Les Savy Fav is to see Les Savy Fav. It's been a long year. You need to shake it to the sounds of a band whose frontman is likely to try to kiss you while changing his clothes onstage. -Monika

Hallelujah The Hills is opening and we'll announce a third band soon. Secure your very own tickets to Les Savy Fav, Saturday, December 29th, 8:30 in the Pearl Street Ballroom here.
