Big Al Anderson's Big New Year at the Iron Horse

You'd think you'd have to travel to the big city for a show of this caliber, when in fact folks travel here to Northampton from NYC, Boston and elsewhere for what's becoming an annual affair, Big Al Anderson's Big New Year at the Iron Horse. Legendary guitarist and songwriter Al Anderson is probably still best known for his 22-year stint with roots rock renegades NRBQ, but he's also fully distinguished himself as a gifted songwriter and solo artist since striking out on his own. His songs have been recorded by dozens of artists including the Allman Brothers, Etta James, Trisha Yearwood, The Fabulous Thunderbirds, and Rascall Flats. He's been a key member of Vince Gill's touring band for some time now. His all-star band for this year's show includes Chad Cromwell, Jim Chapdelaine, Glenn Worf & Reese Wynans. Glenn and Chad are in Mark Knopfler's band, Reese was part of Stevie Ray Vaughan's Double Trouble. Cromwell played with Neil Young in the movie Greendale. Who knows who else might pop up? It's a perfect recipe for a good time with musical selections drawn from a wide and hairy repertoire of song that's decades long. -Jim Neill
