Listening to my new Willie Nile CD, "Live at the Turning Point" and getting ready for Willie Nile live at the Iron Horse tonight at 7PM.

I even love the grainy bad sound quality of its liveness.

punk rock used to be more aesthetically diverse, not so power chord codified.
junk percussion, rimbaud freakouts
and this
guy on a guitar
sorta lou reed, sorta jonathan richman, scratchy bar music,
not slickly wearing somebody else's stories, not technical wankery.
I've been missing exactly this much dissonance.
knowing a life can be built around
neither competitive memorized ethnomusicology
nor insipid showbiz chattel rockstardom
but solid simple songs worth loving and getting wild with
the crowd caterwauls to the cover
and I am fourteen years old at the catholic high fair
screaming in line for the spinning: twennytwennytwennyfourhourstogo
