Americana with David "Goody " Goodrich at The Basement every Monday

The Basement. Have you been? No cobwebs or rickety stairs. It's Northampton's go-to lounge next to the police station (yup) where there's never a cover, no sign, and almost always something worthwhile happening. Last Monday the music was scratchin' the itch as the first Monday in the Kimberlite Series hosted by Sunderland's David "Goody" Goodrich went down. He's one of the most original guitarist-composers on the contemporary Americana scene. Known to many as a producer and accompaniest for Chris Smither, Peter Mulvey (who sat in Monday) and Jeffrey Foucault, Goody's songs are "now" but reflect the soul of American jazz, acoustic, and improvisational music. His music has been on NPR, in films, museum exhibits, and even video games. You'll recall the ornate guitar stylings in level 3 of Grand Theft...oh wait, I don't think that's the one. Fans of Pat Metheny, Bill Frisell, and Ry Cooder will dig his new LP, DUST OF MANY HORSES. That's Goody and Pete Mulvey in the photo.
