Dramatic and hypnotic Seattle combo Band of Horses play Pearl St. Ballroom tonight, Wednesday.

One of this summer's magical nights at The Pines Theatre was the Modest Mouse show, due in no small part to Band of Horses, who also played that evening. We're excited to welcome them back to town, this time headlining the Pearl Street Ballroom. Guitarist/vocalist Ben Bridwell (pictured) and guitarist Mat Brooke formed Band of Horses in 2004, after the dissolution of their nearly ten-year run in northwest melancholic darlings Carissas Wierd. Carissas Wierd trafficked in sadly beautiful orchestral pop, unflinching stories of heartbreak and loss, and the requisite defeatist humor. Band of Horses springs from that tradition but are much more majestic, even spiritual. Buoyed by Bridwell's warm, reverb-heavy vocals (echoing Wayne Coyne, Brian Wilson and Doug Martsch), Band of Horses' woodsy, dreamy songs ooze with amorphous tension, longing and hope. The new Sub Pop album Cease To Begin is garnering excellent reviews, and the single "Is There a Ghost" is perhaps their best song to date. Buy Band of Horses tickets HERE.
