NEW! This week in the Life of Amanda, Real-Life Iron Horse Server!
Amanda reported that a feature called "This Week In The Life Of Amanda..." is pointless if it is not changed each week...or certainly more often than every six months! So, THIS WEEK, I'll keep an eye on her and see if she does anything blogworthy.
They were on the River before it was the River.
Jim Olsen and Johnny Memphis were there in the 80s. Once it was just good ol' WRSI Greenfield. Rumor has it that the call letters originally stood for Where Real Stereo Is. What do you think its stands for now?

Andrew Bird gears up for new album and tour
Andrew Bird hates rehearsing. He counts on the sense of peril that he gets onstage — that feeling that everything can unravel in an instant — to keep him inside his music and prevent him from succumbing to self-doubt. So last month, when Bird was preparing to go on tour with his new backing band, he decided that instead of practicing the songs from his new album, “Noble Beast,” they would play two surprise shows at the Hideout, a working-class-bar-cum-indie-rock-haven in a deserted industrial neighborhood in his hometown, Chicago. Great Song Covers Site!
Discovered this looking for Shawn Colvin's version of "Twilight" by the Band. Click the photo to link. Also, just noticing the young Robbie Robertson on the right. When I lived in Los Angeles I was good buds with his son Sebastian though he didn't talk about his dad much.
The Calvin Theatre circa 1981
Yoda had played the Iron Horse but he blew up and we had to move him to the Calvin for his return to Northampton. R2D2 opened with an acoustic set.
